Walking has always been the main method of getting from A to B for the peoples in the Hills/mountains of Nepal. There are no roads into 90% hills country of Nepal. Vast majority of villages can only be reached on foot.

Trekking in Nepal means a walking trip following up & down & level trails which have been made by local peoples to use for communication & trade & daily life for years. Trekking is not mountaineering. Those trekking trails are used by Nepalese village peoples for their every day life & trade. A trekking trip can be any length you choose. There are enormous popular short treks around Kathmandu  & Pokhara. Trekking in Nepal is not like the trekking to North America/Africa/Europe/Western countries. Most often you will be met by the local peoples/villagers all along the trekking trails while you are on the trekking to the mountains/hills of Nepal.
