21-DAYS TREK AROUND ANNAPURNA TREK

BESI SAHAR
(790 m.)

Day 01:

After a long drive from Kathmandu to Besi Sahar. Dinner and overnight in tented camp

BAHUN DANDA
(1,200 m.)

Day 02:

Trekking starts through flat and terraced rice field, slowly gain and have elevation, and have good views of Baudha (6672 m.) and Himal Chuli (7893 m.) When the trail narrows and the valley becomes a deep river gorge. We cross a long hanging suspension bridge and enter the large trading village of Khudi. The trail continues northwards up the valley, crossing several suspension bridges and passing several beautiful waterfalls. Have a close view of Lamjung (8986 m.) The village Bahun Danda supports the last shops of any size before Jomsom.
CHAMCHE
(1370 m.)

Day 03:

We descend to the Marsyangdi to access the river level before deciding our route. If the water is low we cross on a makeshift bridge to the east bank, if not then we continue on the west bank climbing high over a ridge, to a rejoin the east bank trail over suspension bridge at Sange. We then climb high again, through rhododendron and pine forest. The valley is now a very deep and steep gorge.
BAGARCHAP
(2170 m.)

Day 4:

We climb steadily all day to Tal, a small village at the foot of a large waterfall. We are now entering the Manang district. After leaving Tal  we cross a large bridge to the village of Dharapani (1860 ft.) where our trekking permits are checked and we enjoy a cup of tea. We then climb through forests to Bagarchhap, the first village on the trek with Typical Tibetan architecture. (Appx - 6 hours)
CHAME
(2700 m.)

Day 5:

The trail follows west. Manasalu forming a splendid backdrop and Annapurna II (7937 m.) appearing occasionally to the south. We continue through fine forest of pine and fir, resting at the hamlets of Charku, Thangje and Kaparkodo. As we continue on to Chame, views of the Annapurna improve dramatically. (Appx. - 6 hours)
PISANG
(3170 m.)

Day 6:

We continually cross the river all day, passing through the narrow and steep gorge. nearing the village of Pisang we top a ridge to get our first views of the Manang Valley, a wide u shaped valley hanging between two lines of snow peaks (Appx. - 6 hours)
BRAGA
(3440 m.)

Day 7:

Descending to the forested valley we follow the trail through the flat valley, passing a small STOL airstrip, cross the river once again to Braga. This is a village of over 200 houses. (Appx. - 5 hours)
MANANG
(3540 m.)

Day 8:

We spend the morning visiting Braga Monastery. The largest in the district, it has an outstanding display of statues, tangkas and manuscripts. From here it is only a short walk to Manang. (Appx. - 2 hours)
MANANG

Day 9:

A necessary day to rest and acclimatizes and explore Manang. The village, of over 1000 flat roofed houses, is picturesquely set amongst some spectacular scenery: Annapurna II, Annapurna III (7555 m.), Annapurna (7454 m.) to the Sourth; tilicho (7132 m.) and the Grand Barrier to the west Chulu West (6583 m.) and Chulu East (6059 m.) to the north. Rest and Acclimatization.
YAK KHARKA
(4200 m.)

Day 10:

Continue walk to the Marsyangdi Khola steadily climbing into quite alpine areas. Keep your eyes open for Thar and Ghoral, mountain sheep. Lunch at Chauin Kharka, after lunch walk 2 hours to Yak Kharka/Churi Lettar. Dinner and overnight at tented camp.
THORANGLA PHEDI
(4400 m.)

Day 11:

After breakfast at 8 AM. Walk 2 hours to the small bridge then ascending 2 and half hours and reached to Thorangla Base Camp. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Thorangla Phedi.
MUKTINATH
(3660 m.)

Day 12:

Through the crossing of the pass is not technically difficult but take it slowly to take into account the complication of altitude and possible snow. After about four hours we reach to the altitude (5515 m.) (absolutely stunning high Himalaya scenery). The entire Annapurna Himal to the west and the incredibility deep Kali Gandaki valley: and the peaks to Thorugtse (6482 m.) and Chulu to the north. The descent is steep and rough, but we soon have excellent views of Dhaulagiri (8167 m.) (Appx. - 7 hours)
MUKTINATH
(3660 m.)

Day 13:

After the exertions of the crossing a rest day is in order. Muktinath is an important pilgrimage spot for both Hindu and Buddhists - Buddhist Gompa and a pagoda style temple are the main charm here. The most interesting aspect of the area, is the spot where burning natural gas issues from the rock. (Rest Day)
JOMSOM
(2710 m.)

Day 14:

The trail descend very quickly to the low valley over 1525 m. the descent is through a dramatic arid landscape and continues to Jomsom. Jomsom seems almost busy, in fact it is a major village on the Kali Gandaki trading route. (Appx. - 6 hours)
LARJUNG
(2560 m.)

Day 15:

The Thakalis are the dominant tribe of the valley, interestingly related to Gurungs and magars of the Southern slopes. We pass through Marpha and Tukche, beautiful Thakali village and camp at Larjung.
RUKSE
(1529 m.)

Day 16:

A dramatic change in the vegetation, from dry, arid, desert to pine and conifer forest. Pasing through Kalponi have a magnificent views of the Annapurnas. We camp near a spectacular water fall (Appx. - 5 hours)
SIKHA
(1950 m.)

Day 17:

The trail descends steadily to Tatopani (1220 m.) where we stop for lunch. Tatopani means hot water and it is possible to bath in the springs. Small shops serve chocolate and beer, a great temptation after our weeks on the trail. We then cross the Kali Gandaki and climb steadily to the Magar village of Sikha. (Appx. - 5 hours)
GOREPANI
(2330 m.)

Day 18:

Steadily climbing all day we eventually leave behind the terraced field and enter thick rhododendron forest and the village of Gorepani. We camp at the pass for the best views of the sunset on the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. (Appx. - 5 hours)
HILE
(1150 m.)

Day 19:

Sun rise and sunset and spectacular scenery of Dhauladiri and Annapurna ranges is seen from poon hill top. 45 minute walking up hill from Ghorepani. After break fast descend all the way down through rhododendron forest and donkeys are met all along the trail to Hile. Dinner and overnight at tented camp at Hile.
BIRETHANTI
(1040 m.)

Day 19:

Today's descent is almost as tiring as the day from Muktinath. Mule with goods keep us entertained, however. We camp on the banks of the Modi Khola. (Appx. - 5 hours)
POKHARA
(200 m.)

Day 20:

After breakfast at 8 AM walk 20 minute to the road. Drive to Pokhara. Dinner and overnight camp in Pokhara.

 

Day 21:

Fly back to Kathmandu.
