Helambu Area at 3500m high. Helambu means potato & radish in local language, is mainly inhabited by Sherpas & Tamangs. Trekking in this area does not climb above 3500m. This place has scenic grandeur & pleasant climate as well as a long history of Budhism, culture & ancient tradition. The eye catching views of Mt. Langtang, Mt. Shisapangma, Mt. Gaurishankar & Panchpokhari can be seen along enchanting flora & fauna. You will be greeted by ever smiling sherpa belles. This ideal place for a short trek is known as Trekker’s Paradise. Camp Overnight

Details

Day: 01
Chisapani at 2250m

After breakfast, we pick you up from your accommodation place & transfer to Sundarijal by our car. it is 15 km from Katmandu to Sundarijal. It is 4 hours walk from Sundarijal to Chisapani. From Sundarijal the trail starts off up concrete steps beside the pipelines which brings drinking water down to the valley. Eventually the trail leaves the pipelines from near the dam & reaches Mulkharka Tamang Village at 1890m, 600 meters above Sundarijal from where there are wonderful superb views back over the valley & some convenient tea houses for rest & refreshment. The trail continues climb, but less steeply through forest, & get to the top point. From here descend down to Chisapani. Best superb views from here. Dinner & overnight.

Day: 02
Kutumsang

After breakfast proceed to Kutumsang. It is 6 hours walk from Chisapani to Kutumsang. The trail goes down hill to Patibhanjyang at 1770m. From here the trail rises up hill to Chipling Tamang Village at 2170m,then goes over a 2470m pass & down to Gulbhanjyang Tamang & Gurung Village. Again the trail ascend a 2620m pass before descending along a rocky rout to Kutumsang Sherpa Settlement at 2470m.

Malenchigaon Day: 03

The trail follows a ridge line, with views of Mt. Langtang & Gosiankund Peaks, through the yaks herds in Mangeni Goth & sparsely populated forest to finally reach Tharepati at 3490m. lunch at Mangeni Goth. The trail to Gosainkund branches off north-west from here & Tharepati offers few nice hotel, either you could have over night at Tharepati. Continue to Malemchigaon. The trail turns east just before you reach Tharepati & descends rapidly down a ravine to reach the Large Sherpa Village Malemchigaon at 2530m.

Tarke Ghyang Day: 04

From Malemchigaon the trail continues to drop, crossing the Malemchi River by a bridge at 1890m & then making the long climb up the other side of the valley to Tarke Ghyang at 2743m.This is the largest village in Helambu & prosperous Sherpas who live here specialize, amongst other things, in turning out ‘instant antiques’ for gullible trekkers. Dinner & overnight.

Day: 05
Kiul

From Tarke Ghyang there is an alternative rout. On the loop trek the wide & well used trail descends through rhododendron forests, past budhist chhortens & Thimbu at 1580m. By the time you reach Kiul at 1280m you have left the Sherpa highlands & entered the warmer lowland areas where rice is grown. Kiul is at a lower altitude than Katmandu.

Day: 6
Chisapani

The trails descends along Malemchi river, crossing it on the second bridge at just 1190m,then joining a roadway at Mahankal & following it to Taramarang at 940m. Here the trail leaves the road & climbs steeply to Batache & then Thakani, on the ridge top, at 1890m. from here the trail follows the ridge to Pati Bhanjyang where the Helambu circuit is completed. The trail continues 30 minutes gradual up hill walk,& arrive to Chisapani. Dinner & overnight.

Day: 07
Katmandu

Get up early morning for the sunrise views. After breakfast proceed to Katmandu. it is 3 to 4 hours down hill walk to Sundarijal through the forests. Arrive sundarijal, transfer to your hotel in Katmandu.
