Jomsom is geographically located to the North of the Annapurna range and the East of the towering Dhaulagiri Mountain and is the regional headquarters of gThe Forbidden Kingdom Mustang". This trek is an easy one and it is ideal for those who would like to hike below a height of 4000m. The trek itself is well established among westerners because of clear Himalayan views easy walks and a variety in culture, and landscapes.
The day starts with smooth driving of 67 Hrs to Pokhara and next day walking begins from Phedi village to the scenic hilltop village of Dhampus where Machhapuchhare (6967m) looms large over the village.
From here on you will encounter many interesting Gurung, Chhetri and Magar villages. Some of these villagers join the famed Gorkha regiment of the British Army and renowned on their heroics during the World Wars. Ghandrung village is the location of your 3rd day camp on this trek where you can watch a cultural program performed by Mother Culture Group.
The trail then descends a little through rhododendron forests and back up to Ghorepani. Once in Ghorepani you will forget your tiredness and will be busy to soak in the scenic beauty of the Dhaulagiri (26,788ft), Annapurna South, Nilgiri and numerous other peaks. Next day you have a morning hike to the top of Poon Hill (3200m), a god gifted place from where some of the best panoramic beauty of the Himalayan landscape is on display. An uncomfortable descending trail will be encountered after Poon Hill but our staff will assist you in every way to make it easier for you. Once you reach Tatopani all will be forgotten while you enjoy natural hot springs. The trail then follows along the Kaligandaki gorge, one of the deepest in the world, up to the Kagbeni, the gateway to inner reaches of the Mustang Kingdom. An immense highland plateau marks the dramatic landscape of this region. The highest point of this trek is Muktinath, a Hindu pilgrimage site over 3823m. From here an easy descent will take you down to Jomsom from where you can catch a flight back to Pokhara the next morning. After a nights rest in Pokhara you will be transported back to Kathmandu and civilisation.
